They also do a Ramones homage entitled Eh Up, Let's Sup!

And the one which reminded me - No Sheep til Buxton.

Amuses me, since I grew up around there & it reminds me of the local culture (did I really write that?)

I've heard a few of those, yes. Someone here in the office actually brought some in a couple of months back, which made a nice change from Radio 2.

I recently moved to the area in question. So far I've seen plenty of beer, a few chips, some rock&roll and lots of sheep but have seen no evidence of the other items (yet...)

Well, the few chips in question were from a Chinese takeaway so that may be why... and I haven't visited a proper chippy yet (not that I'd order gravy myself, but I'd probably notice if it was on the menu). Should I report back when I've been to a proper chippy?

I don't think that'll be necessary. I'm quietly confident on that one. Personally I prefer curry sauce & mushy peas, but al Lancashire chippies I've ever been to offer Gravy.

I'm more in the Cheshire/Derbyshire border area, though I did live in Lancashire for a while and indeed there was much gravy.
Mmmm... mushy peas! where I'm from those come as a big lump in crispy batter

I've never tried mushy peas in batter. THey should be a thick paste, though - not the watery rubbish with actual identifiable peas in it that to many places up here claim to be mushy peas. They haven't cooked them for long enough. ANother couple of days should do it.

I'm not sure about the fried in batter thing. It could work, but I'm being reminded of the pizza fried in batter one of my friends experienced up north somewhere. Deep fried pizza is horrible enough without battering it as well. I think I'd try the peas idea once, at least. It's not incest or folk dancing after all, and I've tried folk dancing.

Yes, these are thick paste mushy peas and in a very light batter - they're very nice and they go very well with chips...or indeed pasties. I've yet to see a battered pizza, and don't think I want to!

I didn't push for further information, but I got the impression that this was vague approval from people who don't speak to me much.
