The University is pleased to announce that Professor Daniel C. Dennett, Professor of Philosophy at Tufts University, is the next speaker in our Enlightenment Lecture Series.
Educated at Harvard and Oxford, a fellow of Center for Advanced Studies in Behavioral Science and a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, Dennett is considered one of the pre-eminent philosophers of the 20th/21st century.
His widely-read works include "Darwin's Dangerous Idea: Evolution and the Meanings of Life" (1996), "Freedom Evolves" (2003), and an examination of religious belief, "Breaking the Spell: Religion as a Natural Phenomenon" (2006).
This event is presented as part of our Enlightenment Lecture Series and is free, but ticketed. You can find out more, and book online at:http://www.ed.ac.uk/enlightenment/?eml
