Pah. Worthless spammers.
Jun. 15th, 2007 12:28 amThe University, now - my alma mater - pestering me with worthless stuff.
The University is pleased to announce that Professor Daniel C. Dennett, Professor of Philosophy at Tufts University, is the next speaker in our Enlightenment Lecture Series.
Educated at Harvard and Oxford, a fellow of Center for Advanced Studies in Behavioral Science and a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, Dennett is considered one of the pre-eminent philosophers of the 20th/21st century.
His widely-read works include "Darwin's Dangerous Idea: Evolution and the Meanings of Life" (1996), "Freedom Evolves" (2003), and an examination of religious belief, "Breaking the Spell: Religion as a Natural Phenomenon" (2006).
This event is presented as part of our Enlightenment Lecture Series and is free, but ticketed. You can find out more, and book online at:http://www.ed.ac.uk/enlightenment/?eml
I ask you - why on earth would that be of interest to anybody?
*Ticket booked*

Date: 2007-06-15 12:18 am (UTC)Prof. Dennett does not, however, always look up when crossing the street. I nearly pasted the SOB not too many months ago as he meandered out into the middle of College Ave. when I was dropping off a package. (Either that or he has a doppelganger with a death wish)

Date: 2007-06-15 08:34 am (UTC)When I worked with the tourism team at Kings College in Cambridge, we used to get people coming to the gate asking if they got free admittance to the Chapel etc because they were 'an alumni'. I used to relish fixing them with a Hard Stare and demanding, "Was Latin not a requirement in your day, then?".
