Major General Pat MacLellan, who commanded British troops in Derry on the day, testified that although he ordered that some arrests be made by a small number of soldiers on foot, a much larger number went in with support from wheeled armoured vehicles and conducted a running battle within the Bogside.

They also reckon thatProfessor von Hagens is unlikely to face charges. The crucial point is that while you need a licenced premises to conduct a dissection, you don't to perform an autopsy. A letter points out that the deceased's cardiomyopathy (probably caused by his considerable alcohol consumption) had not been diagnosed in life and therefore the autopsy had achieved a useful purpose in establishing the cause of death.
Of course, the possibility is that all he'll achieve is to make the government close a few loopholes, but I admire him for trying.
