Jesse Rae is standing in the Scottish parliamentary elections.

Is it actually legal for a Scots musician to go into politics if they haven't been a member of Runrig first?

Last time I saw him he was at Etotique festival, he was either trying to promote Private's Scottish porn film or the Scottish Swingers. Didn't find out which one as I wasn't interested in either...

Oh dear! I hope his dress sense has become slightly more conservative since then. *chortle*

I saw Jesse Rae at some sort of On-U Sound all-star show some years back at the Town & Country Club (now the Forum).

He came on in full warrior rig, brandishing a broadsword, which he rammed point first into the stage. It just stuck there, vibrating slightly, while he did the gig. The entire crowd gazed at it as if hypnotised.

The funny thing is, I don't think he actually did much. He just hollered out a few minimal lines of vocal, and that was that. I have a 10" single he made round about that time entitled 'Life's a Killer Dog', and I swear he does nothing except sternly intone the words 'Killer dog!' at intervals throughout the song.

Quite possibly he was the world's first highland warrior minimalist rock star...
