Well, it seems he's got the birthday present he wanted. Bunsen Burner's entered the singles chart at number nine, and Mr Otway is officially no longer a one-hit wonder.
The A-side or the B-side with the thousand-strong choir?
Apparently Abbey Road were very impressed by him bringing a choir of 1000 for the b-side of his next single. They were desperate to know what he was going to do for the A-side.
How bizarre. Some of the people I work with were strangely obsessed with the conspiracy to get John Otway in the charts. I'm sure they'll be well impressed if I tell them I know someone who's cousin was on the B-side. ;o)
If you can find the one with "House of the Rising Sun" on the B-side, then yes please. Actually, two would be nice, because Dave from work's after one too. That's getting a bit greedy, really.
There are three alternate versions, the "Hit Mix" (which has "House of The Rising Son"), the "Even Hotter Mix", and if I can remember what the third one's called I'd be a happier man than I am now (not that this would be difficult). Experience shopping in London on Friday would suggest that everyone who's just bought one copy has bought the "Hit Mix" - Virgin on Oxford Street had lots of the other two, but none of that one, and HMV only had a few.
OK. I've just ordered it from HMV. Thanks, though. It was very kind of you to offer.
I particularly want HotRS because it's a live favourite. It'll probably sound terrible recorded, but when I'm old and senile (this time next week, probably) I'll be able to remember it and smile. Toothlessly.
I happily admit my age and will continue to do so until people stop telling me I look five years younger than that or I reach 40, whichever comes first. ;)
