I haven't seen Silent Running in quite some time. I'd rather like to.

[Poll #818018]

Jon and Kathryn have been and gone, it was great to see them, and I enjoyed the Joyriders a lot. It was the best free concert I've been to in a long while, and I got a CD of their complete output too. The flat's also tider than it's been in ages. Which is nice. More of you should come visit, OK? I've said this before, and quite frankly I'm a little disappointed in how few of you take me up on it.

In other news, we have some tentative Gigantor dates. Nothing until October, and obviously we'll let you know what they are as soon as they become definite. In the meantime, we'll be taking part in a night called "Alternative Culture" in the inevitable Park Room / Underground / Whatever on the 30th of September, along with (I believe) Cyberia, Bitch and Ascension. Could be a lot of fun.

I liked it, but always found the ending, "well, duh?!".

It should always be watched back to back with Dark Star.

I can't remember if I liked it or not, or even if I've seen it all the way through.

I've been forbidden from watching it as apparently the end will make me cry - sentimental fool that I am.

I haven't seen it in years. Oddly I got a bit confused between it and dark star momentarily there, but the sentimental hippy toss bit reminded me of the ecology.

I think it's the beards, confusing me.

Also, did you know that the ship from silent running was in battlestar galactica (both new and old)?

I had it confused with Cool Running for a second, which I guess is probably a worse mistake :)

I can't remember if I've seen it or not.

I have seen a pile of sentimental hippy toss but that was in San Francisco and the police arrested the fellow shortly afterwards.

I had to look it up to remind myself that I have in fact seen it, or least part of it. Probably at an Eastercon several years ago, in the film programme. ISTR liking it, but being rather confused about what was actually going on.

you never come visit me either

I thought Dark Star was the one that was basically the humorous version of ALIEN.

Silent Running always suffered for me because it was shown on BBC2 either a week before or after Dark Star back in, erm, 1978 or so.
