Evenings and weekends

Well, that wasn't such a bad evening. The routerboxevilednathing arrived, and after resetting it so that the default admin password was what it was supposed to be it worked perfectly straight out of the box. Emusic still wasn't playing nice, so after a brief dig I discovered that 1) yes, their site upgrade did break the perl download manager script, and 2) there was no change for people using the official Linux download manager - it didn't work before and it didn't work still.
Update - when I say "it didn't work before", I didn't mean just for me. It has never worked anywhere, for anyone, ever. Well, maybe for a few people a long time ago, but I wasn't able to find any evidence of anyone identifiable actually using it successfully. If you're interested in using Emusic with linux, don't even bother trying the official download manager.
However, changes to 2 lines of the Perl version have it back running beautifully. I may have to tell the support monkeys about this myself, as when I asked if there had been a change they obviously knew nothing of it.
I've been vaguely looking for the theme music for Secret Army, because I haven't heard it in some years. It doesn't seem to be widely available, though. Indeed, the Robert Farnon Society seem to be the only people who've heard of it. If I wasn't so useless about watching TV I'd probably just find a hireable Secret Army DVD and see if the program, too, is as good as I remember.
Sunday evening was odd. I hunted for ages for a Shellac CD (which seems to be gone) and then moved the car but couldn't find anywhere nearby to put it. This meant the walk down to Neon was much longer than usual, and I didn't get a set. So I just got hammered instead, and danced to The Broken Wheel (thanks, Anna). On Monday I went over to Hybrasil to drop off the bookcase I picked up for them earlier on Sunday, had a cup of tea with purplerabbits,
sibelian, Justin WINOLJ and Tef WIOLJBWUIDICR. Afterwards I put together a stool I'd picked myself up.
Earlier still, Friday was spent in whatever the Greenmantle is called now with Lex, L, S, Sibelian and Ed. Saurday had Mervin round to start tiling and then Edmund's drinks in the evening (and his flat for several hours after). Merv did the grouting on Sunday and then I oiled the worktops. They still smell of linseed. Looks good, though. But the thought of what the place will smell like when I oil the floorboards . . .
