Irrelevance.
Feb. 1st, 2006 07:24 pmYesterday's encouraging success was getting the summary views I've been using for the last few years to work properly again, after last week's changes. Well, almost properly. "set trusted_s1" is your friend. Well, my friend, anyway.
I was listening to some Hüsker Dü last night, as one does when one has a strange desire to type in odd codes for HTML special characters, and it occurred to me to wonder about the rather good upbeat guitar version of No Promise Have I Made that I heard a couple of years ago, and to go looking for it (as it was late at night, I completely forgot Tony having given me a copy - typical. Thanks, Tone). Anyway, I ended up on Grunt Fart's website, where there was a news item over a year old titled "Hell Freezes Over". Those of you who care probably already know, but I was surprised. This only begs the question of what happened to Greg Norton - the story I heard was that he'd become a chef. Or perhaps that moustache finally awoke in the night and ate him alive.
There was also a Scotsman article about an upcoming display, at the Botanics, of Socotran plants. I remember the New Scientist article about their expedition there several years ago. It sounds like an astonishing place (cucumber trees?) and I was very taken with the pictures of the Dragonsblood trees - to the extent that last year I bought a couple of tiny saplings which are growing in pots in my front room. Despite my attentions, they aren't dead yet. I'm looking forward to that. Anyone else fancy it? It'll be in July.
I've probably already mentioned the Jumping Frenchmen of Maine, so I'll say no more.
The Beltane open meeting's on the 12th of February, incidentally. Can I persuade any of you to take an interest?
Finally, thank you to

dennyd for this gem of wisdom:

Finally, thank you to
Do you have feelings of inadequacy?
Do you suffer from shyness?
