I knew exactly one person there apart from
taoist_goth, so it wan't exactly socially hectic. I kept myself busy worrying about what to play and how people were going to react, though, so I wasn't bored. I'm very tempted to rig up a toilet roll for people to tear off request slips at the next Calling.
The turntable kindly lent me by
dennyd provided sterling service, and I'm very grateful. I seem to have somebody's CD of "Off the bone" by the Cramps. As I already have it as a proper record, I don't need it - I assume it's somebody who's done a Calling set recently. Any ideas?
Dark Trixx is just by Alencon Link, which is where a lot of civil service recruitment used to be/is based. Ten or so years ago, when I was spending reasonable periods of time rotting on the dole (rather than in the fens) this was an address I used a couple of times. It feels very odd to just happen past a place that used to seem so remote.
Oh yes. The eighties. It were great. Unemployment . . . cruise missiles . . . Go West and Rick Astley on Top Of The Pops . . .
Billy Bragg had some interesting comments on Eighties Discos and "reliving the Thatcher years" that I may have summaried in an earlier entry. As I recall, it degenerated into a discussion of Neubauten, and of metalbashing industrial bands in general (he approves, incidentally).
Throwing Muses minus 4 days and counting.

And yes, I concede the point about Go West and Rick Astley, of course.

Date: 2003-03-16 04:40 pm (UTC)I sort of have this reputation for throwing unexpected compliments and the like at people, but it's generally considered a good thing.
And I just haven't told you enough how great you are. Usually just too shy or what-have-you.

Date: 2003-03-16 04:52 pm (UTC)I'm afraid I'm not very good at handling compliments. I'm making more of an effort these days, but they still take me by surprise, almost always.

I generally find that up, along, then down is best, although obviously you may prefer other orders.

Date: 2003-03-16 04:05 pm (UTC)Yes. Apparently there's been rerouting of flights from anywhere near Cap La Hague for the last year or so, for obvious reasons.
