Fairly confident . . .
Dec. 12th, 2001 02:24 am. . . that this logjam thing is going to work. After all, Paul swears by it and he's never let me down before. And that isn't because I haven't been my usual cack-handed self with programs I'm sure were written for more delicate handling.
Today was work, obviously. I still haven't gotten my Secret Santa gift for my Secret Victim. Tomorrow, maybe - I have until Friday, after all. Slight setback with one of the supposedly finished projects - it isn't. There's a remaining problem that I should have caught . . . last week or so. Oh well.
Myself, John S and Andybastardhudson went to see a councillor to try and get a hang of the entertainment licencing system - for reasons not entirely unconnected with the Q's problems and our relocation, although in an informational rather than lobbying sense. We didn't find out as much as we'd have liked - I think he was held up. We certainly didn't bump into him until about closing time, and he was a bit tired to be quizzed ruthlessly. We all chatted for a bit, mainly on council-related stuff. Interesting bloke.
I think I've worked out who
lovingboth is, too. There are plenty of Ians and I hadn't really associated him with London, but I'm pretty sure I know who it is from (of all things) his Stortrooper. The idea that one of them can be enough to recognise somebody is truly scary.
This logjam thing looks OK, actually . . . Paul wins again. At some point I'll have to fiddle with it properly. The "moods" pulldown doesn't have "wretched", I notice, but then I don't really need that as often as I like to imply. "Dorky" exists and will probably be more useful.
What else . . . I got a call from my brother, who's got loads of people to visit all round the country that have contacted him through friendsreunited. "How many have mailed you?", he asked kindly. "None", I replied. "I guess I was right about them not liking me at school." Either that or it's something to do with not having left an email address. Anyone know which school Andrew Eldritch went to?

Date: 2001-12-12 04:43 am (UTC)I did have an earlier version which I tried, but it seemed hopelessly cryptic. I can't work out what I was doing wrong. The new one's very straightforward indeed, and does indeed do everything one could want it to (although I'm stil waiting for it to finish making the tea). I ended up having to move from stable to testing to get it to run. Maybe that's a little drastic. We'll see.
