A quiet weekend at home, mostly.
Nov. 4th, 2002 12:48 amSaturday evening was going to be the pub with
razornet,
vyvyan and their prospective best Man, but he was delayed for reasons that didn't become entirely clear while I was there, so instead of attending one of the local hostelries we sat in their place and drank wine. Lots of wine. Eventually he turned up, I said hello and goodbye and went home. An odd way to spend a Friday evening, but not without its compensations.
On Saturday I wandered round town for a bit and bought a couple more books to add onto the stack. IN the evening it was the pub, with the aformentioned and one or two others. Many many people being at Whitby, it was a touch quiet, but this in some ways made a nice change. No Jack Chick comics turned up, though. Afterwards it was back to theirs - well, it's on my way home - and talking and drinking until after four.
Today I've been hanging around, reading, sending a few mails and upgrading to the very highly recommended Opera version 6. There was also some weird glitch with something that was gradually eating my hard drive - usage crept up to about 96%. I killed some stuff and rebooted and . . . it turned out that whatever it was had been hungrier than I thought. Only about 35% of the space is actually used.
I was going to finally set up another machine instead of the one I'm on now, but as soon as I decided to get to work on it, it's suffered brain death. I will investigate and, if necessary, I suppose I'll give it a major transplant. More news as it breaks.
I've just watched the beginning of Karma Sutra. I turned on about fifteen minutes in a few months ago, and having seen the beginning now makes the rest make more sense.
