Context is for the weak

I hadn't actually had the email confirmation of the insurance change, but they'd refunded me my pound so I guess the transaction had gone through. I picked various Saunderses up across south and west Edinburgh and had a fairly uneventful trip down to Blackpool. Usual parking space, usual accommodation, usual chips.

In the morning , queue for wristbands at the fancy-schmancy new outdoor portacabin, then usual breakfast at Aunty B's on Deansgate where they're getting pretty good at dealing with intersectional food intolerances. Once inside, the first band was Pete Bentham and the Dinner Ladies, from Liverpool. After that, The Eddies, System of Hate, the Soap Girls, Aerial Salad, Mick Crudge, Bad Cop/Bad Cop, the Cundeez, Pog, Splodgenessabounds, TV Smith, the Boys, The Queers, Theatre of Hate, the Ramonas and Lagwagon. Not all for all of their sets, obviously. That would be silly. I was (I think we all were) appallingly sweaty by this time (2AM) due largely to that yellow thing hanging around all day.

Friday was a little cooler but not much. Aunty B's, then in for Surgery Without Research, Healthy Junkies, Milly Manders and the Shut Up, Headsticks, In Evil Hour, Grippers, Counting Coins, Sick on the Bus, the Raging Nathans, Hobo Jones and the Junkyard Dogs, Cat and the Underdogs, Maid of Ace, the very end of Swill (i.e. we caught Ironmasters but nothing else), Atilla, Cherry and Peesh, Milly Manders again, Neville Staples, the Macc Lads, the Droogettes, Petrol Girls, the Men They Couldn't Hang and the Bar Stool Preachers. 2AM, back to bed appallingly sweaty again.

Saturday was Aunty B's then Choking Susan, Los Fastidios, Tim Holehouse, the Bar Steward Sons of Val Doonican, Berlin Blackouts (from actual Berlin, fact fans), Red London, Attila with Barnstormer (featuring musical demigod Jason Pegg), Reno Divorce, the Lovely Eggs, Cockney Rejects, Peter Hook and the Light, and Stiff Little Fingers.

On Sunday we had the usual breakfast and then hit the WG for Faintest Idea, Glittertrash, Batallion of Saints, Mauri Clash City Rocker, Efa Supertramp, Crisis, MDC, Barnstormer again, the Vibrators, DRI, the Professionals, the Crippens, Slaughter and the Dogs, PiL.

The train down was busy, but comfortable. There was a woman who looked like she had a goitre in the end vestibule at one point, and another who I'm guessing was a buddhist nun, in a red-with-some-yellow garment in (I think) the Tibetan style. CJ's friend Viking was somewhere further down the train. I said hello when we passed each other at Euston, where there was faff as I pulled the first blue thing I saw out of my wallet to find that it was my bank card rather than that Lobster thing they all use.

My sister's cat is a bit bigger but still quite odd. Spending most of her time outside, doubtless in the hope of mugging the local wildlife.

Further note: everybody thinks Geldof's a nob.
