I was round drinking and watching videos with [livejournal.com profile] grahamb,[livejournal.com profile] eviltwinemma and Dee last night, and there was the issue of Q or Mojo or summat with their 100 favourite album sleeves. One of them is the sleeve of the Bunnymen album Porcupines.

Unfortunately the Bunnymen's website is crap. everything's in MS Windows buggeredupformat. The result of this is that in spite of the fact that they have a medium-size pic of the sleeve, I can't actually link to that bit of their site. How shit is that? Anyway, I happened across it while looking through records a few days ago, and said, "Hmm. That could be Iceland, actually." And it turns out I was right. It was taken at Gullfoss, which I was at three weeks ago yesterday.

Not that I'm obsessed or anything. the other thing I was meaning to mention that I haven't is that offsales in iceland are a govenment monopoly. This is also the case in the Faeroes (pronounced "Furries" if you're Icelandic, apparently), and at least used to be the case in Canada. But in the Faeroes, they won't sell you any unless you're up-to-date with your taxes.

And the world financial system's looking a bit dicky, apparently. I mean, I told them that all this deregulation and laissez-faire capitalism would lead to trouble, but would they listen . . . ?

It's a brilliant feature.

Oh, ummm, when we got up at 1pm we thought you were downstairs. There we were creeping around trying not to wake you up and you weren't even there! Ooops.

Oh, its not a problem, I just feel a bit silly for not checking! If I hadn't seen your LJ post I would have thought you were still asleep well into the evening ;)

Well, you may claim that is what happens but we all know better. By 9am you are going cold turkey from Grauniad/Absurder withdrawal, and have to hit the newsagent to get your daily fix. I'm sure Jesus Jones were thinking about you when they released their second single.

Alexander used to complain so much about me listening to Today that I gave in and ended up listening to XFM instead. My morning just wasn't the same without waking up to John Humphreys and James Naughty.

Today is one of the things I really miss over here in the mornings. And the World Service after midnight used to be great too - I had an almost natural tendacy to start to doze off when I heard the phrase "This is London". Of course, now that the Evening Standard has snagged that phrase for its website, the sommnabulistic properties are, if anything, enhanced.

They don't do a digital broadcast then? Although I suppose it would be at the wrong time anyway...

When I posted it he was carrying a big red and white brolly :) I think that is the relative humidity, yes.

I have been fascinated by mine for the last few days. The Bristol one changes her clothes more often, whereas the Manchester one has a cat that moves and changes colour (I am still trying to correlate patterns with the time of day/data). There is a full set shown via a link on the faq page. There's also a punk chap with a dog :)

:) this appears to be the case so far, although I have noticed it located in the centre of the picture a couple of times on the hour. so far this evening it has been there, hasn't been there, earlier on it was black, and currently it's a tabby...yet there has been no significant change in the weather at Manchester airport during that time. I am now wondering if the dog does anything unusual.
