By the light of a thousand candles
Oct. 6th, 2006 12:50 amWell, I had a little trawl through Redwatch yesterday, and sadly didn't see the faces of anyone I know personally, which was a bit of a disappointment. I did. on the other hand, see a familiar name. If it's her, then she's definitely annoying the right people.
Interestingly, though, some of the faces in some of the photos have been blurred out. Why would that be? It was also interesting, given the comment yesterday on the rampaging competence of its owners, that at least one photo is in both the Scottish and London sections, and while they seemed to like naming and giving details on people, they look to have failed to recognise Peter Tatchell and George Galloway on at least one occasion each, as well as Pete Docherty, a man I've not previously had any particular reason to admire. Similarly, though, if he's annoying the right people . . .
I have to say, actually, I found it quite uplifting to see all the many and varied people pictured, and if there was a march today that I could go on to be with all the fantastic people I saw photos of, I'd be on it like a shot. Poisonous? Yes. Effective? Maybe not.
Yesterday I was mostly listening to The Ghosts of Cable Street. Today it's been Ironmasters, the Men's song about the Rebecca riots. Tomorrow may well be Shirt of Blue.
And I have two styes, not one. I though my eye felt a bit odd.
K Jackson's has now closed. Presumably El Barrio is, too. When it was Lord Darnley's I saw some very good bands there - Half Man Half Biscuit, The Probes and The Coal Porters among them. And some other bands, including Midnight Configuration.
