From today's Observer:
One show definitely returning to TV screens is Dr Who, according to microscopic-but-perfectly-formed BBC1 controller Miss Lorraine Heggessey
There's been a lot of talk about this in the last couple of weeks. Wait and see, I suppose.
The mysterious fundie was in the pub last night, leaving Jack Chick tracts in the Gents'. I got "Big Daddy" and "The Sissy?" while John Sullivan got "Last Rites", which concerns the death and damnation of a Catholic for not following Jesus properly - one of Mr Chick's more poisonous efforts. Most amusing was that the deceased Catholic - eulogised at his funeral as being the most devout layman in the community - was called . . . John Sullivan. How we laughed (etc).
Plenty of fundies on the march yesterday, although mainly of a different stripe - mostly they were Marxists, with a few Muslims. Some seemed to be both, which was interesting. Very impressive, and great fun annexing spare streets (The Strand, for instance) when we got bored waiting to start. I think there were a few more of us than the police had expected. In theory the march left at 12:30. I expect the front of it did, but by 1:30 people had about stopped arriving and we hadn't moved in spite of not being all that far back. The back of the march got to Hyde Park just after 5:30, I think. Interestingly, one of the speakers (although I didn't hear him) was the Bishop of Bath and Wells. As we left for home, we passed somebody singing (to the tune of "She'll be coming round the mountain") :
Stick yer Countryside Alliance up yer arse
Stick yer Countryside Alliance up yer arse
Stick yer Countryside Alliance
Countryside Alliance
Stick yer Countryside Alliance up yer arse
Cruel, but amusing. If you're me, anyway.
In other news, the postcard I sent back to the house from Iceland has just arrived. In the meantime, of course, a flatmate has moved to Australia (err . . . anyone want a room in Cambridge?). I notice he's also left a Queen Adreena CD behind. I'll probably post it over to him with a few other odds and ends of his.
Nicky Hoogs is due to be sentenced on Wednesday. The world awaits with baited breath. Oh come on . . . you didn't really think I'd forget, did you? Mark Morrisson's officially in trouble with the police again, over some fairly unpleasant allegations about his behavior, so my projected Big Brother/Porridge scenario is still plausible. There's been some debate over whether the last inm^H^H^Hcontestant should be Dennis Nilsen or Harold Shipman, but I'm confident that this can be resolved amicably. I notice that Michael Barrrymore may conceivably be available, but I'm not sure I bear him sufficient personal animus to justify his inclusion.
I have no motivation today. It's been as much as I can manage to have a shower and wash the dishes.
AL Kennedy's got a short interview on the Absurder today. She says "Being single is great for the first five years; when you hit six you go completely insane." I don't know what planet she lives on. The last five years have unquestionably been the worst of my life. I desperately need to do something else instead of rotting away here.

This is an old story, which was over-extrapolating from off-the-cuff remarks in the first place.
I'll believe it when I see it, and not before.

Wasn't it simply amazing how the police figures for the CA march last week agreed exactly with those of the organisers? A first, I believe.
