Saturday started with a quick scoot across town to pick up a hifi rack, part of my scheme to gradually populate my room with actual furniture rather than folding chairs and sheet-steel shelving. After this, I popped into town to meet up with [livejournal.com profile] vyvyan, [livejournal.com profile] razornet and [livejournal.com profile] robinbloke and go cottaging on the river which is popularly referred to as the Cam but iscalled "Granta" on the river byelaws. We headed upstream towards Grantchester and on the way were passed by the most knowledgeable guide any of us had ever heard. With a distinctly Germanic accent he was telling his passengers that the mathematical bridge was not in fact built by Isaac Newton as the popular version of the story goes, but by Melissa (Oh, alright then, Sir William) Etheridge. Robin seemed to be quite good at the punting business, and it was remarked that I also seemed to have some skill - mainly at running into trees, unfortunately. After a quick picnic, we headed back down and then I came back to Fuckwit Close to meet the evening's guests, who as it happened hadn't arrived. IN due course they (being [livejournal.com profile] hallucinagene, [livejournal.com profile] technotom and [livejournal.com profile] shekhmet) did and they,Raven and I hung around all evening watching odd programs and films, saying odd things and getting less sober.

Sunday was fairly quiet. I read the papers, put the rack together and then went to the pub briefly in the evening with several of the usual suspects. Monday, of course, was work. I'm three down at the moment and at least two more are teetering on the brink, which is fine for this time of the month. In the evening it was . . . another pub to see [livejournal.com profile] eviltwinemma and a few other rocksoc people. I drank probably a bit too much, talked shite, and got Baz to agree to the next day's Calling slot. The subject of a calendar was raised . . if I'd any sense I'd have run away at that point.

Tuesday was work again, which was much like Monday's work. IN the evening, of course, was The Calling (that's the club rather than the band, for anyone who's not been paying attention), which went tolerably well. My set was last (after midnight) and was well-received if a little less than avant-garde. I had brief chats with various people and a pretty good time, although I was well knackered by the end. And today it was back to work again. Sarah the Pilot was going to be coming around, but she got held up somewhere over southern Germany (due obviously to unfortunate recent events) and postponed. The point was mainly to discuss Calling sets and perhaps Peterborough (as in whether we can be bothered with it). It'll keep a few days, I'm sure.

Which brings me up to date, I think.

Incidentally, there seems to be a bit of a shakeout going on. Three of my friends have deleted their journals in the last two days. Do they know something I don'

You went cottaging? Should you say that in a public forum?

I lost one about 3 weeks ago and another two this week - who I suspect are two of the three you're talking about - Rattler and Joanna?

I did try to persuade The Rattler to reinstate his, even if only to read friends only posts, but I don't think he's going to. :(

Another excellent set list, btw. I heartily agree with Eviltwinemma's comment about going to your school!
