Multiple musings.
Nov. 6th, 2002 03:09 am1. Out here at the Gnome Camp, ground has been broken in the south field to build the new Craig Venter Memorial Campus Extension. It's pissing down, and the archaeologists are hard at work. They've already found a roman skeleton from the 3rd or 4th century, with some coins, and with any luck they're hoping to find Dubya's brain and the Conservative party's credibility while they're down there.
2. According to the paper at the weekend, the much-reported on-set conversation that Roman Polanski had concerning the amount of blood that there should be on the floor after a multiple fatal stabbing (Polanski ended up having to point out that he had personal knowledge of this) was actually with Kenneth Tynan.
3. According to the same paper, the phrase "wreckers of civilisation" was attached to Throbbing Gristle by none other than Nicholas Fairbairn.
4. I went to Chelmsford last night to see Queen Adreena, because their website said they were playing at the Army & Navy. Anyone from Chelmsford is laughing at me already, because the A&N closed down last month. Presumably QA themselves knew, but did anyone tell their pet web designer? Apparently not. Of course, it doesn't help that their miserable excuse for site is flash-only. This not only makes it an ordeal to get any actual information out of it, I assume it makes it harder to update as well. Personally, if I want to see some cutting-edge modern art and design, I just vomit into the sink. I'm not necessarily looking for it when I look up gig dates.
It has long been my opinion that the only reason a web designer will feel the need to use flash is to compensate for having a small penis - particularly embarrassing if she's a woman.
Yes, I know that's an old joke, but I couldn't resist it.
5. The number of people having a seriously hard time seems to be on the up again. Take care out there. Hopefully I'll see you all soon.
