. . . if a job description asks for a recent graduate, someone who graduated ten years ago would be pushing it a little, yes?

Although actually, you really should go for it anyway. You're not going to find a better job if you don't fill out application forms.

If there's a reasonable chance of a hearing, then I'm willing to do the forms. I'm not going to if it's just a waste of time. I don't think I need practice that badly.

Why not call them and ask them if it's worth applying? Try to be chatty, find out if they would have any vacancies for someone with your experience?
