Tequilapromogirl we love you.
Sep. 14th, 2004 01:17 pmOn Friday I went to
nickys and
original_aj's place for a whisky tasting, which was very good even though I had to duck out early tog et to
funkyplaid's thesis-finishing drink, which continued down onto the Cowgate with
sibelian until 3. Opium. Just say . . . "Well, it's not as good as the Kasbar was".
Saturday was mostly quite quiet, until half-seven when I met various bods from work. They were going out to celebrate Gabriela's birthday, meeting in Cloisters and going on to a nearby restaurant. She herself nearly didn't make it, having missed her plane back from Brazil, and wasn't back in town until about six. She made it to the Bomabay Bicycle Club in time, though, and the food was, as usual, excellent.
Afterwards we failed to decide what we were doing, so we went over the road to the IB to decide over a pint. Gabriela said she fancied music and dancing, so we all trogged over to El Barrio, which seemed like a good place - a version of Korda's famous portrait of Guevara on the wall and no bacardi in sight (plenty of Havana Club, though). Worryingly, there was a tequila promo, in the person of a young woman with a sombrero, a bandolier of shot glasses, a bottle of Black Death and an encouragingly reasonable attitude towards pricing. There were also a couple of instances (each) of a dangerously palatable concoction I forget the name of (Mexican, IIRC) with lots of ice and limes in it.
Sunday was similar - quiet during the day, then out late. Neon in this case, of course.
original_aj and
bootpunk were both there (I was speculating on getting DJ up from Cambridge and finding someone called BJ . . . but the conversation went a bit strange just then).
nik_strychnine and of course
sabledemon were there, as were various others. Fun, and I stayed until the end. I slept in in the morning, of course, but there's actually nobody else here this week to notice that I was an hour late.
Still need to cover Fiona's visit and Cropredy. Oh, and blah gmail blah too.
