Remember, kids, drinking at work's very very bad, even if it is deathly quiet with no work to do, and even if one's hypothetical Dutch workmate has some hypothetical white beer that's hit its drink-by date.

In other news, apparently Korenwolf is even nicer on tap. Not that that's got anything to do with anything.

I thought you were going to avoid bad people who make you drink alcoholic beverages? Shocking. I am appalled.

Hypothetically, of course.

Yeah. Korenwolf's dead nice on draught, and merely nice from the bottle. I don't know if you did the right thing, though: some bottled beers actually improve as they pass their putative drink-by date.

Or maybe I'm just jealous....

Korenwolf is pretty good -- though I call it "hamster beer" because it has a picture of something I think must be meant to be a field mouse on the tap. Pretty strong for afternoon drinking mind. York brewery pubs tend to have it on tap.

Well, if you visit York, I will happily lead you to pubs with Hamster beer on tap.

And now I have "Wild Wild Hamsters" to the Stone's tune in my head.

Don't s'pose you could drop a name or two - I'm probably due another visit to York (ie I'll have visitors here in Hull, and want to go somewhere nice instead!)

So, does Korenwolf + vodka + Marston's = pedigree siberian hamster?

The korenwolf (cornwolf) is a breed of wild hamster found in northern europe, so hamster beer is pretty apt.

I presumed koren wolf meant field mouse... oh my god... wild hamsters... how scary.

Some kinds of wild hamsters and where they live are:

Wild golden hamsters: parts of Europe and Asia.

Syrians. These hamsters live in the Middle East desert and rocky areas. They have hot days and cold nights. There isn’t much food and water and the animal is nocturnal so they can escape the daytime heat. Their burrows are in deep sand and they live alone. The female will hoard food so that when she has pups, there will be food in the burrow.

Campbells. These hamsters live in Mongolia on deserts and sand dunes. There are hot days and cold nights there with very cold winters. They are totally covered with fur. They look for food at night and come home by dawn. They use other animal's burrows and redecorate by adding more tunnels for air and escape. They make an extra nest when the female is pregnant so that the new litter gets its own. Nests are made with grass or wool.

Winter Whites [Siberian]. These hamsters live in Siberia. They live on flat land with short grass. There are not many people and these hamsters are not afraid of humans. In snow, they can change their fur color to white so that they blend in better. The female will live with two males in a burrow and the males will help with the babies.

Roborovskis. These hamsters live on flat, sandy soil. They are nocturnal. Their burrows are not deep and enemies have an easier time preying on them. They can run faster than most hamsters because they have longer legs

Or is this too much information : )

My Roborovskis don't have noticeably longer legs than the other breeds, but they run incredibly fast on their little wheels anyway. They're tiny and everything they do is intrinsically funny.

Actually, I am ignorant as to the ways of hamsters, and pinched that off a cached webpage : /

I do know that it takes 100 hamsters to make a fur coat ; )

Oh, I'm probably the only one here who can bore the world about hamsters (or any other small rodent) through personal experience.

Drinking at work is great. I often find half a bottle of vintage port or a few glasses of single malt to be very inspirational.

I also found that a large glass of red wine halfway through my CRM refresher made the afternoon just flow by so much more pleasantly than the morning had : )

I would have gotten away with it too if it weren't for you pesky meddling beer-drinkers.

The vintage port bit is true, though you've caught me out with the other bit as I don't like to drink whisky on my own. It's a drink better enjoyed in company (if only I had some workmates). That said, liqueurs are great for inspirational solo drinking, including the whisky liqueurs like Drambuie or the Glenfiddich one.
