It's moist out.
Jun. 24th, 2004 09:39 amThe rain it raineth on the just
and also on the unjust fella
but more upon the just, because
the unjust stole the just's umbrella.
(Milligan, I think)Bowen, apparently.
Today's entry from the "They can't be serious" file comes from The Register, who report today that the Guantanamo Base (Camp X-Ray/Delta/Lawnmower/Teapot/Whatever) prison has had a motto change.
"The removal was ordered because the commanding officer did not feel it accurately reflected his vision of the base," said Navy spokesman Lieutenant Mike Kafka.
(Yes, you're reading that correctly. A man named Kafka has been deployed to field questions about a prison where the criminals are only vaguely charged with crimes, can't speak to lawyers and likely will never get out.)
This reminds me of the press release from BNFL (British Nuclear Fuels Limited) announcing the retirement of their Chairman, Mr Con Allday, in favour of his successor, who I think was called Neville Chamberlain. It was a long time ago, though - it might have been Harold MacMillan.
The current chair is called Hugh Collum. A suitably malicious person could probably have fun with that too.

Well thanks, Graham. Just answered the phone: "Good morning, South Cambridgeshire Umbrella?" But I don't think anyone of consequence heard me. You might have given me a word-association warning.
