Archdrude

Today's Guardian has an article in the society section about Julian Cope and his passion for megaliths and other prehistoric monuments.

Thanks for that... I've long been a great admirer of the Arch-Drude... It's always good to see him getting well-deserved media attention. A scarily bright guy and Head-On is the best autobiography I've ever read (though I don't read many).

Oh, you really really should read it. If you have the glued together 2/1 edition of Head-On/Repossessed then Head-On is the better of the two IMHO. But then I'm droolingly enthused by Mr. Cope and everything he does. You can also play "spot the Courtney Love" in Head-On.

My husbands' friend [livejournal.com profile] quercus shared a house with him in the early 80's and has a brief mention in the book.

I read it and discovered that I knew his wife's best friend!

Great stuff, although I'm a little alarmed at him being described as 'middle-aged'!

He was born in late '57... "middle-aged" is surely not unfair? He's coming up to 50.

Yeah, but the older *they* get just serves to remind me of how old *I'm* getting! A friend of mine from college went out with Troy Tate for a while, apropos of absolutely nothing.

Indeed. I particularly love the idea of windfarm circles...

Hah. I might have known if I waited you'd save me having to look it up myself. :) I assume this is the one you were telling me about earlier?

Do you have any of his books?

Well i never.
I'd heard of him, and heard the odd song by my namesake (well, surname anyway) but never really knew much about him.
I'm gonna have to bookmark that article for disgestion later. Ta!
