A thought on the European elections.

Now, the facts seem clear. According to the BBC, at least.

Former TV presenter Robert Kilroy-Silk says he plans to "wreck" the European Parliament when he sits as an MEP.

He would only go to Brussels when "it's important and necessary"

366498 citizens of the East Midlands vote to send him to Brussels, and the bastard still won't leave? How cheated must they feel?

Well, I just hope he doesn't bother drawing the salary. After all, MEP's taking the cash and not turning up was one of his campaign points.

I believe they're going to take their salaries and plow them into the party coffers.

Now, I hope that that isn't the case. They aren't saying they can't be bothered to turn up, they're doing it as an act of policy. Consciously not doing the work and then taking the money - for yourself or (an)other(s) - isn't just lazy, it's heading for corrupt. So I trust they won't.

I guess he needs to stay home in France/Spain (can't remember which and can't find it quickly) to keep his tan topped up. I guess he doesn't want the pesky politics to get in the way of that too much!

I hope he doesn't take the cash as he was making a big point yesterday on the news about not needing it.
