Apr. 21st, 2002 01:00 pmOtway was excellent last night. A couple of friends (who will remain nameless, although as it was discussed on this thing it's not all that mysterious) had been coming along, but they both dropped out, citing a variety of frankly pathetic excuses. Their loss. On the upside, if I'm ever near Waterloo station again, I know that a shop there sells family packs of Golden Wonder salt and vinegar crisps, which of course come in the right colour packet and therefore don't taste of cheese and onion.
I went to a bookshop yesterday and bought two at full retail price. I should probably support the publishing industry at some point - the amount of remaindered stuff I end up with just isn't funny. Anyway, I picked up a copy of the Three Musketeers (Thanks Tony) and a biography of Cromwell (predictable, me?) which I was reading on the train last night. I've been meaning to go to the museum in Huntingdon. Must remember to actually do so. I've been meaning to visit Denver sluice as well, actually. It's interesting how the English Civil War relates to the suppression of the Covenanters in Scotland - there are memorials to them everywhere. The biog I got is almost thirty years old, and I'm sure it clashes with another book I have about Cromwell's Irish campaign, on the subject of civilian casualties, so I'll have to reread that one soon.
Today is sunny and I've just got the paper. I have to get rid of some garden rubbish while we have the skip out front too. And I've just noticed that the garage, while successfully replacing the speedo, have managed to leave one of the dashboard lights borked. Never mind, I can live with that for the moment.
