So farewell, then, Jack Glass . . .
Feb. 26th, 2004 05:59 pmthe death has been reported of Glasgow's Pastor Jack Glass of the Zion Baptist Church, a man chiefly distinguished by having his religious views described as "too extreme" by Ian Paisley. My gran would have loved him. The wee-free gran, that is, rather than the other.
I should probably mentionalso that I was saddened a few weeks back by the death of Rikki Fulton. His sketches featuring the Rev I M Jolly (a lovely, kind, gentle, but terribly depressed Church of Scotland minister) were the best and most memorable part of Hogmanay for me, right up until the point I discovered getting drunk and falling over. He'll be sadly missed. Apparently the I M Jolly book "How I found God (and why He was hiding from me)" was the bestselling book in Scotland last year. Deservedly so, I'm sure.
