Shanks' Pony
Aug. 8th, 2018 01:17 pmSo it's a two-hour walk from Banbury to Cropredy along the towpath, including a fifteen-minute sandwich break. Leaving Banbury, I startled a grass snake and it swam off across the canal. Later there was a banded demoiselle in and out of the undergrowth.
Also passed, and was later caught up by, a narrowboat called Edinburgh Castle.
Nice day for it. I didn't really know how this was going to go, especially having done something odd to my heels a couple of evenings ago,but it was entirely trouble-free.

Date: 2018-08-10 08:17 am (UTC)Have a great weekend. Wish I was there for some of it... Fish, Le Vent du Nord; Al Stewart and Fairport ofc.
I do have use of a nice car currently and 'could theoretically' go for a daytrip. But I saw some recent photo's of the main field just packed with ppl in rows of those folding chairs instead of blankets. It just looked so hard to move around compared with over a decade ago (when I last went). So laziness will let it slip into the too hard basket and I will take Beery Spice off for a daytrip into Norfolk instead.
Now I understand why Al Stewart seemed to be doing just a one off gig in London last night... warm up for Cropredy. I missed the seated tickets, so I didn't go.
All the best, my thoughts will be with you :)

Date: 2018-08-10 04:26 pm (UTC)It's not too hard to move around. Back when I was on the CSP we suggested marking a few lanes to be left free. Works pretty well.
Yes, I had everything in a rucksack. Worked quite well.
