Warren Zevon is, as has been pointed out elsewhere, dying of lung cancer.

swisstone pointed out this the other day, and today there's this
brief article in today's Guardian - which is especially worth reading.

Wow. You've got to respect someone with an attitude like that.

I haven't actually heard his stuff, although I'm sure I've heard you mention him before. I guess he's worth checking out.

(Oh, and I called Cornflake and will be picking up my new P3 tomorrow, they didn't think it was worth buying more than the most basic Rega cartridge so I'm going for the Rega Bias.)

I would say so. Musically he's pretty mainstream compared to the stuff you usually rave about, but he's written some very odd quirky songs . . . sometimes with truly startling people guesting on them. "That harmonica-playing's dreadful! Did he do it himself or . . . Dylan. Oh. That explains it."

I will, actually, yes. I'm helping my erstwhile flatmate Tom the now-Thesp to move from (I think) Stamford Hill to Seven Sisters in the morning, and meeting Raven later to hopefully go to Bodyworlds.
I'll probably be around until late turns to early, at least - Raven's flying away for ever (ish) back to Australia at a stupid hour on Sunday morning. Also, Tom's got an auudition for a very strange-sounding play in the afternoon, after which he expects to need a good stiff drink.

Meeting up sounds good. Especially in a record shop. The lack of a copy of Horse Rotorvator is starting to grate. I don't think I have your number, though. If you mail me it (gc1 at sanger.ac.uk) I'll call you later on or early tomorrow and hopefully we can arrange something.
