El Reg has decided to be flippant about extropians. Which is fine by me.

The Grauniad gives Unce Warren's last album four stars out of five. Despite the all-star supporting cast - including Bruce Springsteen, Jackson Browne, The Eagles' Don Henley and Emmylou Harris - it is musically and lyrically understated, and frequently suffused with an almost unbearable poignancy.

It's been a quiet week. [livejournal.com profile] fabalafae has disappeared to Lodnod, after last night's farewell drink starting at K's and ending at the Citrus. I haven't been the the C for about seven or eight years, and I'm glad to say that the really bad feature - the nasty bouncers they used to have - has gone, and it's otherwise the same grubby hole it's always been. Must go back after a shorter gap this time. Wednesday involved the Holyrood. Canal defence lights were mentioned. The few nights before were quiet and homebound. I've found a few jobs to apply for, though. All local so far.

This evening I've put my desk back together in my room. It looks, as ever, very fine.

Also: Tabouleh's good. Must make it again.

Also also: The Phantom Limbs. Records out now on Alternative Tentacles who use the G-word (among others) to describe them. Anyone know if they're any good?

And while we're on the subject of maybe buying things from AT, anyone after a deck of cards?

Apparently the 1200 has been on the market for thirty years. I had no idea.

I need storage for about another seven feet of records.

And I am pleased to note that the old conundrum concerning whether the chicken or the egg "came first" has now been empirically studied and an answer determined.

Also : Today's Guardian has an article about Ned Kelly. I couldn't resist pointing you at it because of this line : There's also a profoundly crap animatronic display and a dismal museum, the highlight of which is a talking cockatoo which, I swear, told me to piss off.
