Being talked about on BBC Radio 6, or 6music or whatever.

Currently their version of Kiss.

I haven't heard this for a while. Takes me back.

Ah well, another week gone. Not wasted, though.

My boss was off on Friday (she'd taken a day's gardening leave) so I celebrated by submitting a couple of projects. This is about what's wanted of the average week in work terms. It's nice to feel, at least occasionally, that I'm pulling my weight. I've managed to get into another pointless online argument with Whisky Dave, unfortunately - maybe I'd have managed three otherwise. The evening was, I think, the pub. I should update this more often.. The KSR wasn't amazingly busy. Not that many of the local PIBs turned out, but it was pleasant enough.

On Saturday I went shopping. I relieved Parrot of a small number of CDs - Tanya Donnelly, Bad Religion and (joy of joys!) Firewater. I've never seen a Firewater record for sale in the UK. Apparently Mr Parrot was persuaded bya distributor to take it sale-or-return. What will happen next? Firewater getting UK distribution? Maybe even them actually playing in Britain next time they tour Europe? I think that might be hoping for a bit much.

I think I stayed in on Saturday. Replacement flatmate (Raven) had arrived and was in evidence. It was quiet, as was Sunday. although I did venture to the supermarket and get odds and ends for the kitchen. The dishrack was plastic and a bit clagged. Now it is chrome-steel wire, clean, and more easily cleaned when the need arises. We've a new bread knife as well. Such is the exitement of life in the Fens. Sunday night, of course, Albini was on the radio.

[Note : IE is awful. We've a slght network interruption, and it's not cacheing pages at all, AFAICT. Useless. If my own box weren't under a sheet in a roomful of brickdust I'd be able to use Opera.]

Monday was also quiet, but Tuesday evening started ominously with a phone call from [livejournal.com profile] razornet, summoning us all to pub. This turned out to be him, [livejournal.com profile] vyvyan, [livejournal.com profile] grahamb, [livejournal.com profile] kboyd, myself and Sarah the pilot.

The destination was The Mitre, a rather nice city-centre pub recently given a disastrous redecoration. Its one remaining virtue is being about the only place in town that serves the nectar of the gods (i.e. Addlestone's cider, one of the Things Only I Am Interested In (henceforth TOIAII (don't you love nested parantheses? I know I do))). It was good. Afterwards most of us (bar Sarah, who had an early start) went to the local Rocksoc's Rock night. I drank too much, but fortunately was only a total embarrassment for a short part of the evening.

Wednesday: quiet evening in. I was told to expect two men to come round in the morning and smash their way into the house through the front wall using drills and hammers. This, in fact, duly happened, but instead of preparing we all sat up and watched Mark Thomas, followed by Top Secret!, a film which features an Anal Intruder and a cow in gumboots. But not in the same scene, thankfully, because that would have made it an episode of All Creatures Great And Small.

Today I got up, moved everything portable from my room into a pile (about twelve feet by three by three - I have a lot of junk) in the living room, put sheets over the rest and watched the demolition begin. When it was mostly done I gave up and went in to work. I've got two more projects in this week, and I should manage another one (or two, or conceivably three) tomorrow. This would be silly, and I'll have to arrange to check them in when da boss isn't looking. I don't want to draw attention to myself.

In the afternoon, we went over to see a model of the proposed extension to the Gnome Camp, into the South Field. They're even planning on extending the lake.

Tomorrow I is mostly planning on going to work, and then to Chalk Farm Road, to the Barfly to see Ballboy.

Now Playing : Black Hole Sun, by (of course) Soundgarden. I've got a really good version of this somewhere by Mimi Goese, who used to front the excellent and sadly missed bass/bass/violin/vocal combo Hugo Largo. Their fiddler, Hahn Rowe, turns up on Firewater records. Isn't that about where I came in?

Update : Soundgarden immediately followed by Depeche Mode. I could get to like this station.

I have seen one or two odd films in my time, but seeing keanu Reeves in a dog costume being chased by two giant homicidal rastafarian eyeballs with machine guns does still count as a little outlandish.
