Liquid room, Edinburgh. Saturday 28th of November. Maybe those of you elsewhere in the country should see if there's a gig near you. If there are two, then there's probably a tour happening.
I'll be out of town for HMHB, but I'm seriously considering the others (for quite a strong version of "seriously considering").
I also noticed Lloyd Cole and the Commotions, Cowboy Junkies, Chumbawamba, DKT/MC5 and some band called Johnny Truant, who I've never heard of but have a Good Name.
Sounds intirguing, but I think I can safely say that they've played headline gigs in Scotland before, which Shellac to the best of my knowledge haven't.
Presumably you recommend them? Are there any clips or things available for interested parties to listen to?
They were infuriating. Both times. They came on, played a couple opf songs, fed their guitars back for a bit, changed guitars, played a couple of songs, went off to change their shirts, played a couple of songs, changed their guitars . . . and then finished with something utterly godlike (White Kross the first time, Death Valley 69 the second).
They really don't play to the gallery. There were astonishingly few (recognisable) singles in their sets. They seemed to be steering clear of pop songs generally. I'm still tempted to go back, mind. They were pretty good in spite of all that.
Thurs 8.30 Wee Red Bar - there seem to be a staggering number of acts - in descending order, Amy Rigby, Trademark, Astrid, Peanut. I know nothing of other three :-)Come along and we could finally have a drink :-)Ripping Records is selling it.
